Whale Shark Mexico monitor whale sharks; identifying individuals to build a complete catalogue of the whale shark aggregations in several regions of the Gulf of California. his work allows them to understand the structure of these populations. Thanks to this information it is easier to understand more of their life such as where they aggregate and the impact of humans on whale sharks. Thankfully from this there are now strictly protected areas. Whale Shark Mexico work closely with the Government, tourism operators and other organisations to organise and work with this protected area, using and delivering their science and data to have the best management for the sharks.
We’re thrilled to support Whale Shark Mexico to help expand their current research programme to study even more whale sharks La Paz and Revillagigedo, Mexico.
